"Error" on the Side of Caution

A local Grande Prairie resident erred on the side of caution when they received a telephone call stating that their computer had an "error" and needed to be checked. The caller requested that they go to a website to have the computer diagnosed and allow the company to clean it off.
The RCMP would like to bring the public's attention to the fact that unless you initiate the call to a reputable computer technical support business do not follow the instructions of someone calling your residence, or business claiming to be from a reputable company.
To ensure that a business, or company are legitimate contact the Better Business Bureau or PhoneBusters.
