Mourning the Loss of Four Young Men

Posted by Terry Van Veen  |  POST A COMMENT

Hundreds of orange helium-filled balloons were released silently into the air in Grande Prairie to honour four high school football players killed in a crash over the weekend.  R-C-M-P say 16-year-old Mathew Deller, 16-year-old Vincent Stover, 15-year-old Walter Borden-Wilkens, and 15-year-old Tanner Hildebrand died just after midnight early Saturday morning.  They also say 15-year-old Zak Judd, who was critically injured in the crash, is in stable condition at an Edmonton-area hospital.  Grief counsellors will be at the Comp today.  Police say a pickup truck hit the teen's car on the Correction Line and that the driver fled the scene, but a man was arrested a short time later and faces charges that include impaired driving causing death.

Cards and other items of support for staff and students of the GP Composite High School may be delivered to GPPSD offices downtown (10213 - 99 Street).   The GP Warriors will also be accepting food and financial donations for the families affected by this tragedy today (Oct 24) at 1pm in the cafeteria at the Comp.
