Nominate Somebody Today!
Do you know somebody that always goes the extra mile to help - a person who brings a smile and a positive feeling to all situations? We have lots of these people in our community that go unnoticed - they are a joy to be around. They might shovel your walk, cut your grass, bring you a coffee, pick up your groceries, or just bring a smile or offer a word of encouragement. They will listen to you when you are going through difficult situations and you know they really care.
Shine FM and Tony Roma's would like to reward these people with a $50 gift card from Tony Roma's. Simply call 830-7640 or e-mail us at 96.3@shinefm.com to nominate your hero. Their name will go in the draw and we'll randomly select a weekly winner for the $50 gift card so we can all reward these great people from our community. So whether it’s a big or small deed, they have equal chance of being noticed and rewarded.
Here’s last week’s winner of “Good Ribs for Good Will”:
My name is Alysha Steeves and I am 19 years old. I have
more than just one hero - I have the Maurice family as my heroes. The Maurice
Family has been letting me live in their house for about a year now and I have
seen the many kind things that they do every single day. Mrs. Maurice had
taught me a lot including driving responsibly. She’s taught me a lot about
Jesus. My relationship with him is actually stronger now because I was able to
have a relationship with someone who has a strong relationship with Jesus. She
taught me how to respect myself and others even when they are not being
very kind and to pray for those who aren't with Jesus. She taught me
to accept things for the way they are and to enjoy the things that God has
given me. I have seen her care for so many people. She gives the best advice
about almost anything.
Mr. Maurice had taught me how to be a chicken farmer and planting a garden and
about being responsible for taking care of it. He is also with the fire hall
team in Grovedale and he has been to many accidents helping people get through
some scary situations. He has taught me to see the funny side of things and not
to be serious about everything. He has helped people with flat tires or if they
needed a hand getting out of the ditch. He has helped people get out of so
many situations I can’t even count them.
The oldest daughter, who’s my really good friend, is
pretty much my sister. If it wasn't for her asking her mom for me to stay with
the family I don't think that I would have ever got to meet this family.
She can put a smile on anyone's face even when they have had a rough
day.
Everyone in the Maurice Family has big hearts and they are always willing
to give a helping hand to anyone. I love them so dearly and I want them to
know than I am so thankful for them and for what they do, not just for me, but
other people too.
Sincerely, Alysha
