The Portraits of Honour National Tour is scheduled to arrive in Grande Prairie on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Public viewing will take place in the Crystal Centre parking lot from 11 AM to 7PM .

The Kin Club of Grande Prairie will hold its Friends of the Fallen Gala Dinner on September 7 at 6pm at the Bowes Family Crystal GardensSpecial Guest Master Corporal (retired) Paul Franklin, author of The Long Walk Home, will share his story of his work in Afghanistan which cost him both of his legs.  For tickets, contact the Crystal Center Box Office at 780-538-0387.

The Portraits of Honour National Tour is centred on a 10' x 40' oil painting featuring the hand painted portraits of the 157 Canadian soldiers, sailors, and aircrew who lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan. The mural has taken Kinsmen and volunteer artist Dave Sopha over 6,500 hours so far to paint but admits that his work won’t be complete until our combat mission in Afghanistan comes to a close.
