Women are Happier Than Men

A Gallup-Healthways poll suggests women are happier in middle age than men, because of their friends.
The poll shows a quarter of women between 49 and 55 are completely optimistic about the future, compared with only 17 per cent of men, who tend to have contacts, more than friends.
The most optimistic women have inner circles of as many as a dozen friends to help them in a crisis, something contacts are very unlikely to do.
