Spring Cleaning...??

Spring is here – the season for shedding winter coats, venturing outdoors… and cleaning.

Alberta Health Services reminds residents to use caution when spring cleaning to prevent illness and injury.

Yard cleanup and gardening: Garden chemicals such as pesticides can be dangerous. If you have young children or pets, find safe, non-toxic ways to control insects and weeds. Read the label carefully and follow the directions.

General cleaning and maintenance: If using a ladder, make sure that your ladder is set one foot out for every four feet up. Keep household cleaners and other chemicals out of children's reach. Open the windows when using products with chlorine or ammonia to reduce harmful fumes. Don't mix household cleaning products, as this could cause a dangerous chemical reaction. Change the batteries in your smoke detectors and make sure they are functioning properly. This is also a good time to practice your family's emergency exit plan.
